UPDATE 8/28/13
Lon Morris has now received the charitable distributions it was anticipating from Heartspring Methodist Foundation and Texas Methodist Foundation. Those distributions are being used to make lump sum settlement payments to former employees. Checks and ACH payments are being processed today. We are very thankful for the kindness of these foundations in working with the school towards this outcome. If you have any questions, please contact the Plan Agent.
UPDATE 8/12/13 GREAT NEWS! The Plan Agent is pleased to report the Bankruptcy Court has approved the settlement agreements between Lon Morris and certain foundations. The foundations need to wait an additional 14 days for certain objection and appeal periods to run. No objections are expected during the appeal period however, so payments should go out on or before August 30th. Please contact the Plan Agent if you have any questions or need to reconfirm your distribution information at: dragan@bridgepointconsulting.
UPDATE: 6/18/13 The Plan Agent for Lon Morris has filed a series of objections to claims of creditors in the bankruptcy case, as was required under the Plan of Liquidation. With respect to the wage claims of employees, there were also objections filed. Generally those objections are for the purpose of correcting the amount filed by the employee where it either differed from the school’s records, didn’t account for the prior distributions made for funds received from the Church or the Foundations, or had arbitrary penalties added to the unpaid wage amount. The objections only relate to correcting the amounts owed, and do NOT mean the debtor is objecting to paying the wage claims. The debtor DOES still intend to pay the prior unpaid wages when it receives the funding from the Foundations. We have been working diligently with the Foundations, and previously with the TX Attorney General’s office, to finalize these matters, and regret the significant delays employees have experienced since these funds were committed. We have recently been advised the funds and distributions are anticipated to occur in August. We will keep you apprised of further updates as we get them.
