VA Information Veterans' Benefits Process Applying for VA Educational Benefits can be done at any time during the year. First: Apply for Chapters 33, 30, or 35 benefits. You can do this by filling out an application online at www.gibill.va.gov, utilizing the Veterans On-Line Application (VONAPP). This application process may take up to 8-10 weeks. Once you submit your application, print your instant reply from the VA that shows your file number for your records. That is verification that you have submitted your VA application. The goal of the application is to obtain a Letter of Eligibility (LOE) from the VA regarding your VA Educational Benefits. Second: Once you have your Letter of Eligibility (LOE), bring the LOE and your DD-214 to open your VA file.
Third: You will then complete a Veteran’s Certification Request Form (VCRF) so you can be certified for your classes. Fourth: The FA Counselor will then certify you for your classes utilizing the VCRF. Certification at LMC is on the 12th Class Day for the Fall and Spring semesters and on the 4th Class Day for the Summer sessions. In order to be certified for your classes each semester, you MUST complete an Veteran’s Certification Request Form (VCRF).
Please email [email protected] with any questions or concerns. Upon completion, all forms should be mailed to the attention of Financial Aid or faxed to 903.589.1010
