Student Life

At LMC we believe in the education of the whole student. This takes place inside and outside the classroom. We want to educate the heart as well as the mind. As a complement to the work of the faculty, the Student Life Department exists to facilitate the education of the heart outside of the classroom. We desire to maintain an atmosphere that will be conducive to the development of spiritual maturity and discernment. This occurs in relationships within the residence halls, classrooms, extracurricular activities, and chapel services, just to name a few.

Lon Morris is intimate by design, which means we’re not for everyone. Students who are looking for a value-centered start to their college careers will feel right at home here. You’ll quickly make new friends who share your same interests, dreams. Whether you graduated in a class of nine or 900, you’ll fit in right away.

Live and Learn

Lon Morris offers the first two years of a four-year degree. 90% of all students live on campus in one of several residence halls, and most students are the traditional college age. Change is made easy because you’re not alone.

There’s something here for everyone. Students can participate in many organizations, including athletics, fine arts, fraternities, student government, theatre troupes, language clubs, spiritual groups and honor societies.

Firm Foundation

Lon Morris was founded by the United Methodist Church. Optional weekly chapel services, special emphasis weeks, lectures by distinguished Christian scholars and Bible studies are all help to foster spiritual development. The College Chaplain is an ordained United Methodist minister available for counseling on all aspects of life and ministering to the spiritual needs of students and staff. Students can also earn faith-based degrees through a combination of a liturgical curriculum and hands-on learning with a local United Methodist congregation.

Reaching Out From Within

Lon Morris is one of only a few schools to offer a dual-degree curriculum with a Service Learning component – giving students the opportunity to earn a second transcript for community volunteer work. The unique “If I Had a Hammer” program for example, lets students teach fifth graders the value of leadership, teamwork and goal-setting.
